As India remembers Mahatma Gandhi on his 74th dying anniversary on January 30, the nation’s President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the Father of Nation.

India’s President attended Sarva Dharma Prarthana at Rajghat within the nation’s capital New Delhi. PM Modi stated that it’s our collective endeavour to additional “popularise his noble beliefs”. 

Taking to his official Twitter deal with, PM Modi wrote: “Remembering Bapu on his Punya Tithi. It’s our collective endeavour to additional popularise his noble beliefs.” 

“At present, on Martyrs’ Day, paying homage to all of the greats who courageously safeguarded our nation. Their service and bravado will all the time be remembered,” he added.

India observes ‘Shaheed Diwas’ or ‘Martyrs’ Day’ on January 30 yearly to mark the date when Gandhi ji was assassinated in 1948 by Nathuram Godse. 

Together with his ideas of Satya (fact) and Ahimsa (non-violence), Gandhi impressed tens of millions the world over. He adopted the trail of non-violence and led the profitable marketing campaign for India’s independence from the oppressive British rule. 

India’s Vice President Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and urged folks to return collectively to free the nation from poverty, starvation, social evils, illiteracy and discrimination. 

“An apostle of peace and non-violence, Gandhi Ji performed a colossal function in India’s freedom wrestle and in shaping the future of India,” the Vice President Secretariat tweeted, quoting Naidu. 

“His wonderful life, noble concepts and selflessness proceed to encourage humanity. Allow us to come collectively to free our nation from poverty, starvation, social evils, illiteracy and discrimination,” he stated. 

Describing Gandhi as a visionary chief, social emancipator, messiah for farmers, crusader of the downtrodden and the voice of rural India, the vp stated he was an epitome of kindness, compassion and selfless service.
