The sixth section of the native authorities polls has begun at 218 union parishads (UPs) amid fears of possible violence.

The voting started on Monday morning at 8am and can proceed until 4pm.

Digital voting machines (EVM) will likely be utilized in 216 unions and ballots in two unions of the nation the place Police, RAB and BGB personnel have been deployed to sort out any untoward state of affairs.

Over 11,600 candidates are contesting for varied posts in 218 UPs below 42 upazilas in 22 districts of the nation. Of them, 1,199 are contesting for the publish of chairman, 2,559 for the reserved girls member publish and seven,846 for the overall member publish.

All voters will forged their votes in 13,305 rooms of two,186 polling centres.

One Bhola Sheikh, 58, was killed in a conflict between the supporters of two normal member candidates at ward-3 of Pingna union at Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur on Saturday. Eight individuals have been injured within the conflict.
