Dhaka College’s Bijoy Ekattor Corridor authorities have suspended three college students from the residential corridor for torturing a brisker on the dormitory’s so-called guestroom.
“We suspended the scholars following the advice of the inquiry committee shaped to analyze the incident and served them letters to go away the corridor instantly,” Bijoy Ekattor Corridor Provost Professor Dr Abdul Bashir instructed The Enterprise Normal.
The suspended college students are: Kamruzzaman Raju of Sociology Division, Hriday Ahmed Kajal of Historical past Division and Md Yamin Islam of the Institute of Social Welfare and Analysis of the 2019-20 tutorial session.
The expelled college students are the followers of the Bijoy Ekattor Corridor Chhatra League Basic Secretary Abu Younus and DU Unit Basic Secretary Saddam Hussein.
Dr Muhammed Shah Miran, home tutor of Bijoy Ekattor Corridor and head of the investigation committee, stated that three of the six accused have been immediately concerned within the scholar torture incident.
“After investigating the matter, we submitted the investigation report on 31 January recommending the three accused college students be suspended from the residential corridor for six months,” he added.
On January 26, Akhtarul Islam, a scholar of the 2020-21 session of the Mass Communication and Journalism Division and a non-residential scholar of Bijoy Ekattor Corridor, was bodily and mentally tortured for being absent on the guestroom assembly, a political occasion of BCL, by some college students of the 2019-20 session.
Akhtar lodged a written grievance to the provost of the corridor over the incident.
Later, a three-member inquiry committee was shaped, led by Dr Muhammed Shah Miran, and directed to submit the report by 31 December, 2021.
