Permission has been granted to seek legal assistance to review all domestic and foreign agreements for setting up power plants. This initiative has been taken considering the Unequal contract.
The Power Division was given permission to seek legal assistance at a meeting of the Advisory purchase Committee at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.
Later, the financial adviser told reporters that during the previous government, unequal agreements were made with independent power plants (IPP). It has been decided to review them. Legal assistance is needed to review them. A proposal has been approved to do that. The proposal to do that has been approved. There are legal issues; nothing can be done unilaterally.
The meeting approved the proposal to purchase one cargo (33rd for the period of August 4-5) of LNG from the spot market through the international quotation collection process in accordance with the Public Procurement Rules, 2008.
This LNG will be purchased from Qatar Energy at a rate of 13.24 US dollars/MMBTU. The total cost is estimated at 556 crore 76 lakh 50 thousand 905 taka.
