A large number of Bangladeshi buyers and importers are expected to participate in the 138th Canton Fair, scheduled to open on 15 October in Guangzhou, China.
This was announced at a promotion event held yesterday (6 August) evening in Dhaka, which was jointly organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the China Foreign Trade Centre, in collaboration with Bangladeshi trade bodies.
The event, co-organised with the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) and the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), provided a platform for Bangladeshi businesses to prepare for the massive trade exhibition.
Golam Rashid Ali, manager of Trendy Group, who attended the previous fair, shared his positive experience.
He described the event as a “bridge between buyers and suppliers,” noting its effectiveness in discovering new products, ideas, and technologies.
Ali offered advice to prospective Bangladeshi participants, urging them to focus on “specific products, services, or issues” to navigate the fair’s immense scale.
The event featured several notable speakers, including Nargis Murshida, administrator of the BCCCI, and Baby Rani Karmakar, director general of the EPB. Meanwhile, on the Chinese side, Liu Yuyin, minister counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh; and Jia Ruo, deputy director of Sales at Lu Hua Group also spoke at the event.
