Swami Sivananda, a 125-year-old yoga guru in India was conferred the Padma Shri award on Monday (March 21) by the nation’s President Ram Nath Kovind.
Sivananda obtained a standing ovation as he walked naked ft within the palatial Darbar Corridor of Rashtrapati Bhavan to gather the celebrated award.
The yoga guru prostrated earlier than Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was current through the ceremony, and the President earlier than receiving the award.

In a heartfelt gesture, PM Modi returned the greeting and bowed and touched the bottom promptly. The clip of the incident went viral on social media platforms.
Swami Sivananda was born in Pattamadai, within the Tirunelveli district of southern Indian state Tamil Nadu. He has authored 296 books on yoga, Vedanta and different topics. His books emphasised the sensible utility of Yoga philosophy over theoretical data.

For the unversed, the Padma Awards are conferred in three classes, specifically, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
These Awards are given in varied disciplines or fields of actions corresponding to artwork, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce and business, medication, literature and training, sports activities, civil service, and many others.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for distinctive and distinguished service; Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of excessive order and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any discipline.
Modi lauded Padma Awardees and mentioned that the nation takes nice satisfaction of their accomplishments and contribution to society.
