Farmers in all 5 districts of the Rangpur agriculture area have produced all-time report of 11,988 tonnes of groundnut in the course of the just-ended 2021-2022 Rabi season.

“Farmers are promoting newly harvested groundnuts to wholesalers at charges between Taka 3,500 to 4,000 per mound (each 40 kg) this time,” groundnut dealer Mokhlesur Rahman at Rangpur Metropolis Bazar advised the nationwide information company.
Officers of the Division of Agricultural Extension (DAE) stated a goal of manufacturing 11,688 tonnes of groundnut was mounted from 6,015 hectares of land for the area this time.
“Farmers lastly cultivated groundnut on 6,190 hectares of land exceeding the mounted farming goal by 175 hectares or 2.91 p.c this time,” stated Further Director of DAE for Rangpur area Agriculturist Md. Emdad Hossain Sheikh. র্র্
After finishing harvest, farmers produced 11,988 tonnes of groundnut, greater by 300 tonnes towards the mounted manufacturing goal in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Nilphamari districts of the area this time.
Through the earlier 2020-2021 Rabi season, farmers produced 11,087 tonnes of groundnut by cultivating the crop on 6,190 hectares of land within the area.
“Farmers are increasing cultivation of groundnut each within the riverine char areas and mainland yearly following rising demand of the crop within the nation’s boosting meals industries sector,” Hossain talked about.
Farmers bought bumper groundnut manufacturing following expanded cultivation of its excessive yielding varieties developed by Bangladesh Agriculture Analysis Institute (BARI) on extra land.
Due to decrease farming prices and wonderful market worth with big demand, char folks and farmers are reaping big earnings from groundnut cultivation within the area.
Senior Coordinator (Agriculture and Surroundings) of RDRS Bangladesh Agriculturist Mamunur Rashid stated farmers can earn Taka 50,000 by producing 22 to 25 mounds of groundnut per acre of land spending Taka 23,000 as farming prices per acre.
“Cultivation of groundnut is increasing over the last 13 years following an enormous increase of the meals industries growing demand for agro-commodity,” Rashid added.
Farmer Nur Mohammad of village Char Biswanath in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur stated he cultivated groundnut on 50 decimals of sandy char land on the Teesta riverbed this season.
“After finishing harvest final month, I bought 11 mounds of groundnut and offered the crop at Taka 3,500 per mound to reap a web revenue of Taka 25,000 excluding farming prices,” he stated.
Farmer Saidul Islam of Char Gorokmandal village in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram stated he cultivated groundnut on 1.70 acres of char land on the Dharla riverbed.
He bought a bumper manufacturing of groundnut after finishing harvest and earned a web revenue of Taka 80,000 excluding all associated prices for farming and harvesting of the crop this season.
Farmers Rashidul Haque of village Char Kharibari in Dimla Upazila and Nur Alam of village Char Chilmari Danga in Domar upazila of Nilphamari stated they earned all-time excessive earnings from groundnut farming on sandy char land this season. – BSS
